Wanderer

The story behind this painting is that I was taking a walk one day and happened to notice a leaf being blown along the side of the street. The leaf was not tumbling but literally sliding and almost looked as if it were scurrying to get out of the way of cars. It made me think about the relationship between nature and the city.

 In the painting I put the leaf in a parking lot. By emphasizing the texture of the pavement with it's cracks, craters, chipped paint...I wanted to convey the feeling of an alien landscape.
